Alternative Major Project – LeeJay

.!.

LeeJay

Taking inspiration from a television programme I watched when I was younger about a man called Dave Gorman who travelled the world trying to meet as many other Dave Gormans as possible, I want to create a place for DJ’s called Lee.

The site would act as a place to meet and greet other DJ’s from around the world, as well as submitting new mixes and extracts from up and coming work. Acting secondly as a crit website, users can then rate, comment and download the content with a focus being placed on improving everyone’s skills.

LeeJay would act as a resource website containing background mixes for beginners to start with. There is also scope to include tutorials for those willing to try their hand. A Google maps section will allow users to plot their location, and in time building a worldwide community of amateur DJ’s called Lee.

Pros:

1. I have an interest in the topic area
2. Large number of regular users available
3. Ability to create a community
4. Scope for magazine features and high Google listings
5. LeeJay has a great ring to it and a brand would be easily created
6. No other DJ site like it

Cons:

1. Hard to distinguish users talents
2. Large amount of embedded code required for complex features
3. May be difficult to portray my idea
4. Anyone not called Lee may never return to the site limiting site traffic
5. Forum administrators required to keep user generated content in check

This video should give you an idea of what Dave’s show was all about:

David James Gorman, born March 2, 1971 in Stafford, Staffordshire, is an author, documentary comedian and humorist. He performs comedy shows on stage in which he tells stories of extreme adventures and presents the evidence to the audience in order to prove to them that, unlike in most other stage presentations, they are true stories. He is a former stand-up comedian.
