Alternative Major Project – Lego Belfast
Lego Belfast is a project I have toyed with for a while now. Being a bit of a Lego buff in my youth, I have always had a passion for all things block. Incorporating the simplistic nature of Lego into some of Belfast’s iconic places could create a unique tourism website for the city.
The website’s primary objective would be to deliver clear and concise information about Belfast, with an array of downloadable content available to users. Lego-ising landmarks such as the Albert Clock, Belfast Eye, Big Fish and the Odyssey Pavilion could generate a lot of interest.

2. Very specific advertising opportunities
3. Revenue can be generated

5. A recognisable brand could become key to Northern Ireland’s future tourism success
6. No current Lego rivals in the Belfast market
Cons:
1. Relies heavily on my ability to Lego-ise the landmarks
2. Large amount of PR will be required to generate initial site interest
3. Could be quite childish
4. There are a large number of tourism websites already in the market
5. Respective Trusts may not be keen on having their landmarks Lego-ise
6. Site brand will hinge on Lego allowing me to use the name in my designsNight of the Comet move
Myself and a friend had the exact same idea a wee while ago, kudos to you for acting on it. One of the problems that we had was the prohibitive expense of getting the bricks to build said landmarks. Let me know how you get on and I’ll check back on the bolg.
